About the Event

Rackham Faculty Allies Speaker Series

In this talk, Dr. Gilbert will discuss his journey from undergrad into an endowed chair. He will also demonstrate some of his lab projects, including the world’s most accessible voting system, brain-drone racing and more. Dr. Gilbert’s efforts to diversity computing have been acknowledged by leading organizations, including The White House. He will describe what he has done to change the face of computing research.

Biography

Dr. Juan E. Gilbert is the Andrew Banks Family Preeminence Endowed Professor and Chair of the Computer & Information Science & Engineering Department at the University of Florida where he leads the Human Experience Research Lab. He is an ACM Fellow, a Fellow of the American Association of the Advancement of Science, a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors, and a Senior Member of the IEEE.
