Research Overview

Research conducted in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science spans space communications, quantum computing, high-speed lasers, low-power computing, network security, biomedical and environmental sensors, learning technology, and everything in between. Our faculty are at the forefront of new and emerging technologies, and train our students to compete with the best in today's global society.

Many of our faculty are engaged in interdisciplinary research. They collaborate with others in the department as easily as they do with faculty throughout the College of Engineering, the Medical School and other world-class departments throughout the University of Michigan, and around the world.
